The Kingwood Park boys soccer team earned its second consecutive District 19-4A win by defeating the Huntsville Hornets 2-1 Monday night in Huntsville. The Panthers pounded the goal in the first half with 11 shots on goals and finally broke through in the 32nd minute. Luis Ramos tapped the ball to Juan Castillo, who scored with a low, hard shot into the left-hand corner of the net for the Panthers’ first score. The game soon became very physical, but Kingwood kept the Hornets to a scoreless first half.

Kingwood Park doubled its lead in the 50th minute with a quick throw from Castillo to Casen Hunger, who fired a rocket into the lower right corner of the net. At the other end of the field, Colby Sias made six saves to hold the Hornets to only one score, which came late in the game.

“The boys played extremely well and played with a lot of heart tonight,” head coach Ryan Smith said. “Huntsville was a very hostile environment for my young team, but in the end they fought and fought and fought and came out winners.“

The next game for the Panthers is at home against New Caney Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

That’s funny. Huntsville seems pretty harmless to me. I”m not sure what you mean by that coach… “Huntsville was a very hostile environment for my young team…” If, by that, you mean that the Kingwood Park team contains a bunch of nancy boys that dislike any physical contact at all, then i suppose that does make sense. Buck up young ‘uns.
