It was a tough day for both the boys and girls Kingwood soccer teams as the girls fell 2-1 to Clear Lake earlier in the day while the boys lost to Cinco Ranch 3-2 in the afternoon.

In the boys game, Cinco Ranch jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half, but the Mustangs showed some incredible effort by battling back even after a late overtime win the night before when Pat McLean scored right out of the gate in the second half to close the game to one.

Cinco answered back quickly to extend their lead to 3-1, but once again Kingwood battled back when McLean scored his second of the day with under three minutes to play to make the score 3-2. The Mustangs mustered one final chance to score, but forward Cale Haas’ shot missed just inches high of the Cinco Ranch goal with under a minute to go.

Another great season for both teams, and hats off to the boys team for playing such a hard fought game only hours after a long and physical battle the night before.

Carmen will be on later to give us some more info on the girls game.
