K-park loses in three to Tarkington 9 October 2007

Tonight I made my way up to Kingwood to watch Kingwood Park in a very important district match against Tarkington. The Panthers turned out a good crowd that brought a ton of energy but unfortunately, the Panthers dropped the match in straight games, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20.

Game three was by far the most exciting of the three matches as K-park managed to jump out to a lead mid-way through the game before Tarkington was able to tie it up at 17 and go on to win the match. Still, the Panthers had an opportunity to pull out a win against a very tough team if it were not for a few late mistakes.

This was the first opportunity I have had to watch the team play this season and I was very impressed. The team is loaded with talent and seems to be pretty deep. They showed a great attitude, having fun while still fighting hard. When you step back and realize the team is made up of entirely freshmen and sophomores, it is pretty unbelievable. This squad should be pretty impressive as they continue to grow and play together.

Do you think next time you can talk about JV and Freshman also instead of just the Varsity? Those two teams won yesterday to Tarkington in some very exciting games!! They count too!

Go to all Panthers!

Appreciate the coverage, btw “tough” is an understatement to describe Tarkington. Their #9 is a returning all-state player. Lady Panthers will make the playoffs in volleyball and girls cross country. Too soon to tell, but also good shot at post-season action in (at least) girls basketball and boys cross country and baseball. Not too shaby for no juniors and seniors, huh?

The tradition begins NOW!
Inaugural season, Babyyyyyyyyyy !

Parents: If you want varsity and sub-varsity coverage, then spoon-feed info to the reporters. They don’t mind cuz they cannot be everywhere at once. Provide them game summaries and stats and scores for them. For example, there’s no way they could’ve known Tarkington had a returning all-stater. Only we know that kinda stuff. They would LOVE to report all sprts but reporters have the same 24-a-day time limitations as everyone else.
