Well, I sure can’t explain this high school football season in our coverage area. Spring shocked HCN Greater Houston No. 4 Stratford with a 29-24 win tonight at Tully Stadium. Joey and Sarah were at the game, and here’s Joe’s full report, but what a huge win for the Lions and head coach Sonny Karas, who earned his 100th win at Spring.

On the other side of things, Kingwood fell to Klein 17-7 at Turner Stadium in a sloppy game that included seven turnovers. Klein broke a 7-7 tie with 10 points in the final five minutes. As someone who really started watching Texas high school football in the midst of Kingwood’s run to a share of the district title last year, it’s an odd preseason. But with a young offense, the Mustangs have still showed promising signs that they can duplicate last year’s run. Here’s my online recap.
